Depth of Field (DOF) In photography, (DOF) is the area that is considered in focus, or accaptable focus. Focus of a scene will be most visibly "in focus" at one point, as you travel to the back of that point, or travel forward from that point the image will become increasingly out of focus (OOF). Use of DOF is important in that it allows a photographer to eliminate, or blur out portions of a scene which are distracting for compositional reasons.
